The 6th National Indigenous Drug and Alcohol Conference (NIDAC20) will consist of a three-day event as well as a pre-conference workshop for SEWB and AOD Workers
The theme of this Conference, ‘Pathways to Healing’, acknowledges the great importance placed on healing by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the role that it plays in addressing harmful alcohol and other drug use.
Healing is a complex issue meaning different things to different people. It can take place at different levels, from a body, mind and spirit and/or individual, family and community level. NIDAC20 seeks to explore these complexities and meanings as they relate to addressing harmful alcohol and other drug use.
The conference will feature a panel discussion and cover topics including healing journeys for Aboriginal youth, alcohol and drug use and the institutionalisation of Aboriginal people in the NSW Criminal Justice System.
