Preparedness

Tips to Prepare

  • Plan and prepare
Develop and strengthen your emergency plans using the AH&MRC Emergency Activation Framework and Appendix. Adapt the templates to suit your local context, community needs and risks on Country.
  • Test and improve
Regularly trial and test your emergency plans within your ACCHO. Practicing responses helps identify gaps, strengthen coordination and ensure staff are confident and prepared when emergencies occur.
  • Strengthen connections
Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including emergency services, local councils and community organisations. Knowing who to connect with, and what support services are available — supports faster, more coordinated responses.
  • Build capability
Consider undertaking Emergency Management Capability training available through the NSW Government to strengthen your organisation’s preparedness, leadership and response capacity.
