Practice Manager (Fixed Term Contract)

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Practice Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a dynamic, community-focused health service. This is a senior leadership role overseeing a GP Clinic, Allied Health and Specialist Clinics and a Dental Clinic.

Candidates must have a minimum of 1-2 years of healthcare management experience.

This role is ideal for a values-driven leader who thrives on continuous improvement, team development, and delivering high-quality, culturally safe healthcare.


About the Role

The Practice Manager is responsible for the effective operational management of clinical, dental and community (SEWB) services across the organisation. You will work closely with the CEO to ensure high standards of clinical governance, service delivery, compliance, and financial sustainability.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational capability, people management skills, and the ability to lead change.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Lead and support clinical, dental and specialist and allied health clinics
  • Foster a positive, collaborative and culturally safe workplace
  • Support workforce planning and performance management
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives across services

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee daily operations of:
    • GP Clinic
    • Specialist and Allied Health clinics
    • Dental Clinic
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements
  • Funding and operational contract development and delivery
  • Manage systems, policies and procedures
  • Monitor KPIs, reporting and service performance

Financial & Strategic Oversight

  • Support budget management and financial sustainability
  • Identify opportunities for service improvement and growth
  • Contribute to strategic planning and organisational development

Key Challenges of the Role

  • Implementing practice improvements in collaboration with the team
  • Balancing operational demands across multiple programs
  • Supporting and coordinating multidisciplinary teams (GPs, Specialists & Allied Health, Dental)
  • Maintaining accreditation and compliance standards
  • Driving efficiency while maintaining high-quality, culturally safe care

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience in health service or practice management
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Experience in implementing funding and operational contracts
  • Experience in implementing quality improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of accreditation and compliance requirements
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Working with Vulnerable People check or police clearance required before commencement
  • Australian work rights are required for this position

Preferred

  • Aboriginal Health Practitioner (AHP) qualification OR Registered Nurse
  • Experience working in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health or community health settings
  • Understanding of Medicare billing, practice software and health funding models
