The Aboriginal Health & Medical Research Council (AH&MRC) is dedicated to assisting Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs) across the four regions (Metropolitan, Northern, Southern and Western) of NSW to ensure they have access to an adequately resourced and skilled workforce enabling the ACCHSs to provide their local Aboriginal communities with holistic and culturally appropriate primary health care and Aboriginal health-related services.

About the Role
We are looking for a Community and Culture – Compliance Coordinator to play a vital role in supporting the NIAA program workforce by coordinating training, promoting culturally safe practices, and ensuring compliance with program objectives. This role is central to advocating for culturally appropriate support and care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, particularly in the Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) and aged care sectors.
You will work closely with the local workforce and partner organisations to ensure the program runs effectively, staff are supported, and community needs are met in line with best practice and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Program Management & Compliance:
- Lead the delivery of the NIAA program across NSW, acting as the primary contact for all workforce matters.
- Develop and manage workplans, ensuring program milestones and deliverables are met.
- Facilitate SEWB staff networks and yarning circles to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Design and deliver targeted community engagement and outreach initiatives to promote aged care services.
Employer & Industry Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with employers, industry groups, SEWB services, and community stakeholders.
- Provide tailored support and advice to the workforce on career development and access to training and resources.
Workforce Support & Progress Monitoring:
- Monitor contract performance and ensure objectives are achieved within agreed timelines.
- Work collaboratively with AH&MRC departments and SEWB teams to drive program success.
- Support the workforce with tools and resources to deliver culturally safe care and support to older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Reporting & Risk Management:
- Prepare accurate and timely reports for audits, funders, and stakeholders.
- Ensure all data reporting and contract compliance obligations are met.
- Identify risks in service delivery and implement proactive strategies to manage them.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications:
- Relevant qualifications in community services, program management, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in program coordination or service delivery within government or community sectors.
- Solid understanding of training contracts, government funding arrangements, and industry compliance.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Proven ability to engage effectively with employers, industry stakeholders, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of SEWB frameworks, best practice training models, and community-focused service delivery.
