Casual, Client Transport Driver (Identified*)


About the role

This is a Casual position based in Bega, NSW with the Katungul Aboriginal Corporation Regional Health and Community Services. As a Client Transport Driver, you will be responsible for providing a safe, reliable and caring transport service for eligible Katungul’s. This role includes some long-distance driving and may require availability to work flexible hours, and overnight stays, to fulfill the requirements of the role. The Transport Driver is responsible for ensuring all fleet vehicles are cleaned and maintained to a high standard. You may also be required to travel to various locations within and outside Katungul’s footprint. This is a position of trust and responsibility.

*This role is open to applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander only. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised in Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

What you’ll be doing

  • Safely transporting clients to and from a variety of medical destinations including various locations within and outside Katungul’s footprint.
  • Maintain records detailing the use of Katungul’s transport services including type of transport provided, frequency, locations, distances, times & dates.
  • Commitment to culturally appropriate service provision.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, hygiene and tidiness of all Katungul’s fleet vehicles to a high standard. This includes washing Katungul’s fleet vehicles.
  • Conduct safety inspections of vehicles prior to any transport service activity.
  • Report any vehicle maintenance, repairs or issues immediately, as per procedure.
  • Cooperate with other drivers to ensure Katungul provides the best transport service to our clients.
  • Provide transport directly to and from appointments and other activities, with the exception of collecting medical prescriptions.

What we’re looking for

  • Client Transport experience would be highly regarded.
  • Experience in using computer based software, and managing electronic office equipment such as scanner, printer, phones etc. is desirable.
  • Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality and how it applies in a health and community service is essential.
  • A current and unencumbered driver licence and clean driving record is essential.
  • A current Working with Children Check is essential.
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate is essential (training can be provided).
  • Disability Bus Training (training provided).
  • Child Restraint Training (training provided).
