About the Role
As an Assessment Officer, you will play a critical role in growing the pool of quality foster carers to meet the increasing needs of the Permanency Support Program (PSP). You will assess potential carers, strategise innovative recruitment approaches, and work closely with communities to ensure culturally safe and effective outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to recruit quality foster carers
- Collaborate on recruitment advertising strategies and foster care policies
- Deliver foster care training and complete allocated assessments
- Prepare detailed and comprehensive reports on carer assessments
- Partner with key stakeholders, including government and community-based organisations
- Stay informed on research, best practices, and innovative delivery responses for Indigenous communities
- Actively contribute to planning and reviewing recruitment and assessment processes
Skills and Experience:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent report-writing and computer literacy
- Deep understanding of the PSP sector and foster care needs
- Demonstrated knowledge of the challenges impacting Aboriginal families, children, and communities
Requirements:
- Aboriginality
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence (minimum P2)
- Current Working with Children’s Check
- Willingness to undertake a National Police Check
