The Aboriginal Health & Medical Research Council (AH&MRC) is dedicated to assisting Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs) across the four regions (Metropolitan, Northern, Southern and Western) of NSW to ensure they have access to an adequately resourced and skilled workforce enabling the ACCHSs to provide their local Aboriginal communities with holistic and culturally appropriate primary health care and Aboriginal health-related services.

About the Role
We are seeking a Part-Time Senior Project Officer to align and support the delivery of a joint project between the Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council of NSW (AH&MRC) and Carers NSW (CNSW). The project aims to develop, pilot, and implement tailored carer awareness training for the Aboriginal Health Workforce in regional NSW. This training will support Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) to better identify and assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander carers, with a focus on regional and rural communities. The role includes education content development and delivery, stakeholder engagement, promotion, data collection, and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead project activities to meet milestones and deliverables on time and within scope
- Support development, implementation, and monitoring of the project plan and budget
- Maintain ongoing engagement with Carers NSW to ensure alignment with contractual obligations
- Facilitate and document project and stakeholder meetings both online and in-person
- Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including AH&MRC member services, Aboriginal Health Services, carers, and sector experts
- Represent AH&MRC and its members at relevant workshops and platforms
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and support colleagues
- Foster a culturally respectful and inclusive team environment
- Coordinate with Carers NSW to ensure culturally appropriate engagement with ACCHOs and the Aboriginal Health Workforce
- Adapt Carers NSW training materials to suit the Aboriginal Health Workforce
- Design and deliver culturally informed education in multiple formats
- Pilot and refine training based on feedback from participants and stakeholders
- Collect and analyse stakeholder and participant feedback
- Support evaluation processes to improve training effectiveness
- Prepare internal and external reports summarising findings and recommendations
- Assist in tracking progress and reporting to funders
- Maintain accurate and accessible project documentation
Essential Criteria
Qualifications:
- Relevant qualifications in health, education development and delivery, with experience in a combination of in-person, online, and eLearning formats.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience as a carer or working directly with carers.
- Previous experience working in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.
- Knowledge of carer-specific services and referral pathways in NSW.
- Experience in meeting management and facilitation.
- Strong written communication skills, including ability to summarise qualitative and quantitative feedback.
- Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and social issues, with awareness of the role and needs of carers.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating health programs and initiatives.
- Ability to hold a National Police Check and current Working with Children Check.
