From the Ground Up: Aboriginal Leadership Transforming Health Innovation and Research
The NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation, in partnership with the Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council of NSW, and collaboration with the Centre for Aboriginal Health and NSW/ACT PHN Aboriginal Health Network, is pleased to be hosting our 8th annual conference.
This year’s theme is From the Ground Up: Aboriginal Leadership Transforming Health Innovation and Research and explores the powerful role of Aboriginal leadership in reshaping health systems and research practices. This theme highlights community-driven approaches, cultural knowledge, and self determination as catalysts for meaningful change. It celebrates how Aboriginal voices and leadership are driving innovation, challenging conventional models, and creating pathways for more equitable, inclusive, and effective health outcomes.
Date: Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 November
Venue: Rydges North Sydney and online

This year’s conference is an opportunity for collaboration, learning, and celebration of the work being done to improve health and wellbeing for Aboriginal people in NSW.

Keynote Speaker: Ieyesha Campbell – a young Aboriginal woman from a rural region living with a chronic condition – sharing her journey of “Living Her Best Life.”

Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing Network Co-Chairs: opening reflections on our journey so far and where we’re headed next.

Professor Alex Brown: highlighting his work in genomics for Aboriginal people and the role of precision medicine in Closing the Gap.

Panel Discussion: featuring system leaders, showcasing Aboriginal leadership in healthcare, and exploring the role of allyship to drive impact and change.

Reimbursement Policy:
- AH&MRC will reimburse Member Services up to $500 per staff member to assist with transport or accommodation costs for those attending the conference.
- To be eligible, services must be located within MMM 3–7 regions.
- Failure to attend without prior notice is considered a ‘no-show’. No refunds for travel or accommodation will be provided for non-attendance/no-shows.
