Transport for NSW: Aboriginal HSC Scholarship Program


Introduction Transport for NSW are seeking applications for the Aboriginal HSC Scholarship program, offering an exciting opportunity for Aboriginal students. Successful applicants will receive a scholarship, participate in mentoring with Transport for NSW and can apply for further opportunities at the end of their scholarship.

We have proudly partnered with NSW Aboriginal Land Council who will be administering all scholarship payments.

We are looking for applicants who are

  • Students who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander that are involved in their local community
  • Interested in being a good role model for young Aboriginal people
  • Aiming to attend university after high school or pursue a future career with Transport or a career relevant to Transport for NSW
  • Motivated to participate in mentoring

Eligibility Criteria

  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Studying year 11 or 12 in 2026 and working towards NSW Higher School Certificate.
  • Interested in career and development opportunities within the Transport for NSW agency.

Scholarship process and expected timeframes

Step 1 APPLICATIONS: Written application, including all additional documents to be submitted by 5th December 2025

Step 2 SHORTLISTING: Aboriginal Employment Unit to commence assessing of applications between 8th and 11th December 2025

Step 3 OUTCOME: Aboriginal Employment Unit to notify applicants of assessment outcome between 12th December 2025

Step 4 INTERVIEWS: HSC Scholarship interviews to commence with applicants, Aboriginal Employment Unit and NSWALC to commence between 15th and 19th December 2024

Step 5 NOTIFICATION: Aboriginal Employment Unit to notify successful applicants before 21st December 2025.

Step 6 INDUCTIONS: Aboriginal Employment Unit and NSW Aboriginal Lands Council to run inductions for 2025 HSC Scholarship recipients in February 2026. Please note: Applicant, School Rep and Parents/Carers are required to attend.

Submit the following documents via email to Transport for NSW’s Aboriginal Employment Unit, Aboriginal.Employment@transport.nsw.gov.au by the cutoff date listed on page 2

  • Completed Aboriginal HSC Scholarship Program – Written Application
  • Sign Aboriginal HSC Scholarship Program – Terms & Conditions
  • Provide most recent school report
  • (Optional) Any other documentation that you think will support your application for the position (e.g. resume, awards, participation certificates, written references)

  • Scholarship Applicant 1, 3, 4, 7, Terms & Conditions (pg 18)
  • A Parent/ Guardian 2, Terms & Conditions (pg 18)
  • High School Principal (or equivalent) 5
  • Aboriginal Community member 6
