The Aboriginal Health & Medical Research Council (AH&MRC) is dedicated to assisting Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs) across the four regions (Metropolitan, Northern, Southern and Western) of NSW to ensure they have access to an adequately resourced and skilled workforce enabling the ACCHSs to provide their local Aboriginal communities with holistic and culturally appropriate primary health care and Aboriginal health-related services.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Compliance Coordinator – CQI/Accreditation to support our mission of improving the health and well-being of Aboriginal communities across the state. In this role you will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of compliance policies, conducting audits, and identifying potential risks. The Compliance Coordinator also provides training to staff on compliance matters, promoting a culture of integrity within AH&MRC.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of quality frameworks and compliance policies for AH&MRC and its member services.
  • Ensure policies align with current legislation and support continuous improvement across governance, risk, and health and safety.
  • Maintain a centralised policy and procedure directory and ensure effective communication of compliance standards.
  • Conduct compliance audits for member services, identify risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Support the maintenance of risk registers and provide detailed reports on findings and legislative updates.
  • Manage the accreditation calendar and coordinate evaluation visits for member services.
  • Prepare accreditation reports and provide technical assistance and training on standards and policies.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs and resources for member services.
  • Evaluate and refine training initiatives to enhance awareness and understanding of compliance obligations.
  • Act as a liaison for compliance matters between AH&MRC, member services, and regulatory bodies.
  • Produce regular compliance reports and foster strong stakeholder relationships to support regulatory alignment

Essential Criteria

Qualifications:

  • Relevant Tertiary Level Qualification or experience in a primary healthcare setting.
  • Recent experience in project delivery (preferably within the Health Sector).
  • Proven experience in compliance coordination or management, preferably within the health sector or non-profit organisations.
  • Familiarity with Aboriginal health issues and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Experience conducting audits and risk assessments.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Strong understanding of laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to health and compliance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for assessing compliance risks.
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting tools to monitor compliance activities.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a willingness to learn and improve processes.
