MEDIA RELEASE Peter Andren Memorial Health Scholarship |
| Orange Aboriginal Medical Service (OAMS) is a not for profit organisation committed to the empowerment, motivation and support of Indigenous and Non-Indigenous students within regional and rural NSW who are currently enrolled and or intending to enrol in a health or medical field. The late Mr Peter Andren, Federal Member for Calare 1996-2007, supported the work of OAMS. Peter was committed to equal access to culturally appropriate health services for Aboriginal peoples. He believed it was crucial to care for and include the weak and disadvantaged in our communities and for everyone to be treated with equal dignity. With donations made to OAMS in his memory, the Peter Andren Memorial Health Scholarship has been established. The Peter Andren Memorial Health Scholarship will provide support to students from regional and rural NSW by assisting with access to tertiary education in order to improve the health and well being of our Indigenous and disadvantaged communities. OAMS would like to advise current and pending students, community organisations and communities that the Peter Andren Memorial Health Scholarship is now available for students who are currently enrolled in or applying to be accepted into a health and or medical field. Application forms can be accessed by contacting Orange Aboriginal Medical Service on 6361 7855 or 6361 7355For more information please contact: Jamie Newman |
