The Aboriginal Health & Medical Research Council (AH&MRC) is dedicated to assisting Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs) across the four regions (Metropolitan, Northern, Southern and Western) of NSW to ensure they have access to an adequately resourced and skilled workforce enabling the ACCHSs to provide their local Aboriginal communities with holistic and culturally appropriate primary health care and Aboriginal health-related services.

About the Role

We are seeking for an Elder Care Workforce and Training Coordinator to join the team in ensuring that the Elder Care workforce is well-equipped and supported to provide high-quality, culturally safe care to older individuals, particularly within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This role involves overseeing training strategies, developing workforce support systems, and ensuring that staff receive the necessary resources and training to meet the unique needs of the aged care sector.

You will collaborate closely with local workforce teams, community groups, and aged care services, ensuring that training programs align with best practices and compliance standards. Additionally, you will support the promotion of culturally sensitive care and provide advocacy to ensure that clients and staff in the aged care sector are empowered to deliver and receive services in a safe, respectful environment.

Key Responsibilities

Program Management & Compliance:

  • Oversee the Elder Care support program in NSW, acting as the primary point of contact for the workforce.
  • Develop and implement detailed activity work plans and track outcomes to ensure program success.
  • Lead and coordinate Elder Care staff networks and yarning circles, promoting best practice standards across the workforce.
  • Create and execute community outreach campaigns to raise awareness and promote aged care services

Employer & Industry Engagement:

  • Build and nurture relationships with employers, industry bodies, and aged care services to strengthen workforce development.
  • Provide ongoing support and expert guidance to the workforce on professional development and access to resources to ensure continuous improvement.

Workforce Support & Progress Monitoring:

  • Track the Elder Care program contract progress, providing necessary support to meet objectives and deadlines.
  • Monitor milestone timelines, ensuring all requirements are met and program goals are achieved.
  • Collaborate with AH&MRC departments and Elder Support teams to enhance overall program delivery.

Reporting & Risk Management:

  • Prepare accurate compliance reports for audits and funding bodies, ensuring timely data reporting.
  • Ensure full contract compliance, tracking and reporting progress in line with funding agreements.
  • Identify potential risks in program delivery and develop effective risk management strategies to ensure smooth operations.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications in a related field such as community services or program management.
  • Proven experience in program management, ideally within the aged care or community services sector.
  • Strong knowledge of training contracts, government funding, and industry compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional ability to engage and collaborate with employers and industry stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Familiarity with government funding and aged care programs and services.
  • An understanding of aged care best practices, particularly in culturally safe care delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
