Virtual Workplace Wellness Sessions – 19th August
Categories: Current Events, Past Events
AH&MRC is convening a virtual wellness session of a guided relaxation session.
Wellness in the workplace is not solely focused on physical health and the importance of work health and safety. A holistic approach to workplace health is inclusive of mental health and mindfulness.
Adults who are employed full-time often spend a third of their day at their place of employment. So, for at least a third of the day, each of us are working with other people who may or may not experience
unwellness in the workplace.
At work we are often faced with several different deadlines, this can generate or irritate stress levels and impact mental health. Technology also impacts mental health with communication often occurring through email, text, social media. Each of these lacks genuine human connection and can cause a sense of loneliness.
Poor mental health in the workplace can negatively impact productivity and increase absenteeism.
More importantly neglected mental health illness can contribute to serious physical illness such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions, amongst others.
Now, COVID19 is testing the boundaries and limits of work mental health for many people worldwide due to necessary lockdowns and stay-at-home orders.
